This article is about, Run Test cases with automation scripts in test link. It is necessary that you had worked on selenium before. After wards only you will understand this still try to explore from below information.

There are some important points and Preconditions for this. You need to install Java first. Then install Eclipse. Give proper Path in environment variable for Java and Eclips.

Moving to Next, Install Junit 4.11 jar , Selenium Jar and Test Link client API jar.

Reports are the core part of test link. Test Link gives us lots of option to create a report as per our need.

We can create different reports for a test project. You need to navigate on ‘Reports’ screen and there you will get options to generate reports like Test Plan Report, Test Report, Test Report on build, General Test Plan matrix, Results by Tester per build, Test case Assignment overview, Test result Matrix, Test Result Flats, Failed Test cases, Blocked Test cases, Not Run Test cases, Test cases without Tester Assignment, Charts, Bugs per Test cases etc.

We will learn about Word document functionality of test link in this article. Another thing we will learn is 'Copy & Move' functionality for test cases.

Test link has so many functionality which make it so easy. This both functionality is given in 'Test Specification' tab.

If your test suit and test case are already created for a test project and you want to copy it or move it then you can do it from 'Copy and Move' functionality.

First of all you need to login with Test link and select a Test project from home screen. Now go to 'Test Specification' and create a test suit or Test case.

In This article we will learn how we can search test cases for a test project in Test Link. As we know, Test link is used for Test cases management.

A user can create Test cases as per the different scenarios in project so it is normal that test case value is increase day by day. You will find difficulty when you want to verify only one or two test case among created all.

Test link also give you the facility to create keyword for find group of test cases or group of test suits.
Test cases are placed under different test suit.

Metrics Dashboard is another feature which is given by Test Link. As name suggest it is all about Dashboard. We are going to learn about reviewing dash board in Test Link.

Dashboard will provide you information about selected test project. You will be able to see all the test case execution detail here. Only Active Test case is displayed on this screen.

If Project is inactive then metrics dashboard is not working for that test project. Project must be active so active part will be displayed on screen.

Basically we will learn about different role creation and management in test link. As we know admin has all rights to create different users.Admin can create users but he cannot edit or delete a user’s password.

Only he has right to create it. Afterwards user can edit and delete his password and generate API keys for a test project.

There are several rolls in Test link which is define below.

Guest:A guest can see all the information like test cases, metrics, reports etc. but he or she cannot edit any information.

Test link provides us feature for creating keywords and custom fields for test cases. We are going to learn it in this article.

As name suggest, Key word means you can assign a key word to the test case which is define as identification. We can filter test case by its identification. Assigned key word will be displayed on screen for that test case.

We can assign key words as per test suit. It is not mandatory to assign key words to all test cases. For important test suit or test cases you can assign key words.

We have created test cases for a test project in previous article now we can move towards to execute test cases in test link.

This is one of the best functionality of test link which indicates test manager that how many test cases are executed and how many test cases are failed. For executing test cases, Admin needs to assign test cases to the tester. Then and only then they can run the test scenario as per test cases.

Test management and bug tracking is very important part of software testing life cycle. You need test management tool where you can store testing activity related stuff and information like how testing will be done, planning of testing activities and track process and progress of testing. It should allow you to write and manage test case, test environment, bug posting and tracking activities and test planning activities.

There are many test management and bug tracking tools are available in market. Some of them are paid and others are open source. Most of the companies are using open source tools to manage testing activities. We have prepared tutorials on popular test management and bug tracking tools which can helps you to work with them. Most of the companies are using bellow given tools for managing their testing process and life cycle. Follow the tutorial link.

We have learnt about create test suit in test specification. Now we can move on to writing test cases. This is the major feature of test link. Test link manages test case prime and properly.

As the part of the procedure, Test case can be generated only after generating the test suits. This is key rule of test link. Thus, we need to create test suit for creating test case.

For creating test cases first if all we need to enter its precondition. We can generate test case as per our scenario in test project and as per test scenario precondition should be entered.

Testlink Tutorial : Testlink is opensource web based test management and requirement management tool. Testlink is most popular test management tool on software industry. We have prepared series of tutorials on test link to demonstrate you what is test link and how to use test link for better software test management practice.

We have learnt about test specification now it’s time to move on with requirement specification. Test Link can save your entire requirement according to your test plan. It is explain all the requirement information about test project.

Tester can test whole project based on requirements and test cases also written on same bases. After execution of test cases , Test manager can verify the requirement specification and verify the all test cases which is executed successfully and decide that is that project should be go live or still some changes is require  or any  error is remain in development.

We have created Test plan and Test build for a Test project. Now we are moving further for Test Specifications. We will learn here the procedure of test specification. For that you need to understand what test specification is.

Test specification is contains Test suits for a Test project and this test suit contains test cases for all module of the test project.

We can generate test specification documents from here only. For working with Test specification functionality we needs to log in with test link first.

Then we need to select Test project for which we needs to create test cases. First of all you assign that project to the primary level tester then he can be able to create test suits and test cases.

Without assignment a tester cannot create test cases. Test link also provides facility to generate reports according to assignment of project.

Once a Test Project has been created by Admin we can create a Test Plan. Now we will learn about How to create a Test Plan as it is next step after creating project in Test Link.

First of all we need to understand what Test Plan is. Test Plan is Combines Test Scope, Milestones, Test suit and Test Cases.  Test Plan is the basic unit for executing all the test cases of a project.

In test plan, test scope defines as information about particular requirements. User should create test case according to the test scope. Test case must be created under the test suits.

Now we can conclude that this all units are related to each other. You can create test plan from test plan management option.

Software Test Project creation is the mandatory procedure in Test Link. We are going to learn this in this article. Test Project will contain project requirements, Software project specification and Software Test plan, user rights.

Only Admin can create Test Project which is not shared with anyone in initial level. If same software project have two different modules like Android and software Web application then admin can give different rights to different team. Thus, only assigned project rights will be seen by respected team but Admin can verify both the module.

Thus, Software Test Project is the key unit of Test Link. Now we will see how we can create the test project and how it will impact.

In this article we will learn about Test Link Installation procedure. First of all we need to understand all the benefits if the test link.

Benefits of Test Link:
  • Test link supports multiple project at a time
  • It provides credential to multiple user and assign rolls to them, they can on same also.
  • We can assign test case to particular user. Only assigned test cases will be executed by the users. Thus, it provides security for our created documents.
  • We can easily import and export the test cases.
  • We can integrate it with other test management tools.
  • We can search test case by keyword and we can creates different versions for test cases according to test builds.
Because of this much facility, User want to use it for his project. Now we will learn how we can install it. We will go here step by step.

  • We are learning a web based software test management tool which is called Test Link. This is most widely used as it is an open source tool. Requirement specification and Test specification both combine here.
  • We can create test project and software test case document for the same. Test link tool is managed by admin. Admin can create different rolls according to work and assign them different task for manage whole project.
  • We can execute test cases manually as well as automated script. In additional we can also generate test report and test plan which saves our time in estimation procedure. Reports can be generated in many formats like MS word, HTML and Excel.
  • We can integrate test link with many other tools like JIRA, Bugzilla etc. A bug can be linked with these tools by bug tickets number.
  • Test link can manage multiple projects at a time and allow multiple logs in at one time.
  • This all are the benefits of test link software test management tool. now we will learn about test link structure.
